An afterthought after writing Article 1: Brainstorming the Ideas
The ideas from Paul Graham’s “Organic Start-up Ideas” were floating around in my mind. Fresh. Exciting. Interesting. That’s what I feel every time I gain new knowledge that resonates with me.
Still, I didn’t know what to make of them - beyond providing a framework for my existing ideas, they triggered a nagging thought I couldn’t quite articu - actually, never mind, the question crystallized in an instant.
"Why the hell am i building?"
I’ve spent such a long time figuring out how to handle the UofT Academic load in order to get time to build that I’d forgotten what was motivating me in the first place.
I realized I had implicitly equated building with doing a start-up by seeking out Paul Graham’s “Organic Start-up Ideas” Article.
I needed to clarify this or else a lousy motivator would make it very easy to quit when things got hard. I summoned my subconscious brain for a discussion. What you’ll read next is the transcript that was recorded of our fruitful conversation..
Subconscious: “Big man tings, what’s good. Aren’t you supposed to be studying for your STA304 exam??”
Me: “Damn, I’ve gotten side tracked.”
